The market town of Ludlow is set in the English county of Shropshire. The town is close by to the English – Welsh border and on the curve of the River Teme. Ludlow Castle is situated on top of the hill that looks over the River Teme with the rest of the medieval walled town sloping down towards the river bank on the eastern side. The River Corve also runs close by and can be seen from on top of the hill. Although exposed on a hill the town is actually sheltered by the Clee Hills. The town has a huge amount of listed buildings approximately 500, most are medieval and some examples of Tudor architecture. The castle was built between 1086 and 1094 by Roger De Lacy. The chapel of St. Mary Magdalene was built later between 1190 and 1120. The town grew significantly in the 20th century and brought many antique dealers to attract the tourists. Art dealers and small bookshops also appeared. There is now an Eco Park outside the town with park and ride facilities and also eco friendly offices.
