Eastleigh is the main town in the Borough of Eastleigh in Hampshire, England.It was originally a railway town. Nearby is the city of Southampton and also Winchester. Eastleigh runs from the waterside of Netley, the river villages of Bursledon, Hamble-le-rice and Botley all the way up to Boyatt Wood and Chandlers Ford. Originally a village named East Leah, the railway was first named Bishopstoke Junction until the town grew up around it from all the work on the railways. It was renamed to Eastleigh in 1923. The railway works closed briefly in 2006 but are now reopened albeit on a slightly smaller scale. Southampton Airport is situated in the Borough of Eastleigh, it was originally called the Eastleigh Aerodrome famous for when the first Spitfire airplane that was built in Southampton was flown from the Aerodrome. You can still see a replica on the roundabout at the front of the Airport.
