The village of Tillicoultry is situated in the Scottish burgh of Clackmannanshire in Scotland. The village is set on the southern edge of the Ochil Hills; it is one of the Hillfoot villages. The River Devon runs past the south side of the village with also the A91 road that runs from Stirling to St Andrews. In the industrial revolution ere the burn that runs down the hills to the village was well used to run the mills which were first built during the 1790s. The mills were mainly textile mills and they all begin to spring up on the burnside. The industry continued to expand and attracted more workers to the village to work in the mills. Because of this the village was the first in the area to get a trainline. Today the coaling and textile industry has declined so the town is mostly residential for commuters that work in Stirling, Glasgow and Edinburgh. Most of the mill buildings are now also residential. The village has a dry ski slope called the Fir Park and also boasts an 8 hole golf course.
